Bill Eddy loves to write. He also loves Hawaii. In 1959, the same year the territory became a state, he read James Michener s novel Hawaii, and dreamed about seeing the islands someday. Well, that someday came just three years later, when young Eddy, on his first voyage aboard the USS Parsons, not only spotted Diamond Head for the first time, but also observed the then-new memorials at Pearl Harbor. He knew how the events that had taken place there had shaped his family s life, but had no idea how much Hawaii would come to shape his life in the coming decades.
Take a good look at the cover of the book. It conveys the heart and soul of Bill s journey: Much more than just a story of a man s life, with its triumphs and tragedies it is an extraordinarily open, humorous and humane exploration of growing older (unavoidably), growing wiser (occasionally), but never, thank heavens, growing up or giving up.
Who is Bill Aloha Eddy? After all, the name Eddy is not Hawaiian, it is English. As far as he knows he is not a descendant of, or related to, anyone from Hawaii. But Aloha not only means Hello and Goodbye, it also means much more than that. Aloha is the essence of relationships, valuing mutual regard and affection for others. Living Aloha is a way of life, and significant guiding principle for Bill. Loves, Life & Laughter is a story of family, role models, values and friends along with a few surprises along the way. It is a story about an American boy and his highly enjoyable journey through life.

The story of Bill s Journey, told with such passion and humor, helped me recapture memories of the best times and magic of an era. --Tom Bahler (Author, Composer, Producer)
I loved Bill s narrative style with amusing comments punctuating the text. His writing held my attention resulting in a fast moving story.
