Dion A Petaros is recognized nationally for his expertise in Emergency Response theory and practice. While Dion’s responder experience includes an all-hazard history, his passion for Search & Rescue has led him to develop educational programs to prepare other responders for service in the SAR specialties. With more than 30 years of experience in Search & Rescue he is frequently called upon to participate in large SAR incidents, across the country, as well as to present classes to novice and advanced practitioners. Dion now serves as AERIE’s SAR Branch Director where he coordinates the large group of professional researchers, authors, instructors and examiners. James Keck is the Leader of the Search & Rescue Team for the Shawnee/Pottawatomie County Emergency Management Search and Rescue Team and has participated in many searches throughout Oklahoma.Jim has been a member of County Emergency Management Teams responsible for SAR. Jim has also served as a member of the Civil Air Patrol and worked in Emergency Medical Service for 10 years as a Paramedic. Jim is well respected for his years of experience educating SAR responders to serve their fellow citizens and continues to do so as an AERIE Instructor Trainer. Jim has worked as an Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) officer for several major corporations and was the chief of their Emergency Response Teams (ERT). He now serves in management of a national organization providing all-hazard response to agencies and corporations, nationwide. Wes Podboy is a 32-year veteran reserve deputy for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department. He has spent most of those years as a member of the Sheriff’s Air Medic team where he has flown as a Flight Medic and Helicopter Crew Chief. He is one of the founding instructors for the Sheriff’s Department Basic Search and Rescue Academy and for the last 15 years served as the Course Coordinator. Wes also serves on the County Incident Command System Management Team. Wes served as one of the developers of the State of California Wilderness Medical Technician Trial Study. He also represented Search and Rescue on the State of California EMT II committee, which now is known as the Advanced Emergency Medical Technician certification. He has also taught EMT and AEMT at various educational institutions over the last 25 years. For his many years of dedicated service Wes is a recipient of the State of California Medal for Meritorious Service.
