About the Author

Diane Pillars worked as a heavy equipment operator before retiring as a sergeant from the Alaska Department of Corrections. A licensed cosmetologist for over thirty-five years, she is also the first lady exalted ruler and first lady district deputy grand exalted ruler for the Alaskan Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks.

An avid volunteer, Pillars has received numerous accolades, including the volunteer of the year award from the Mat-Su Council on the Prevention of Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, and a member of the year award from the Alaska Peace Officers Association.

Pillars is a proud wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
