Synopsis

Hello everyone - I want to thank you for reading my work, and say it's nice to meet you! I am R.J. Tolson, the author of the True Life, Legends of Tye Series manga! Although four of my works have been published, and I have published for others as a publisher, this is very first manga! I truly hope you enjoyed this manga spin off adaptation.

I have always wanted to create a manga. When I first moved to California in 2011, I had just recently published my first fantasy novel Zephyr the West Wind. That same year, Universal Kingdom Print's Ryoma Sasaki offered me the opportunity to begin working on a manga adaptation of Zephyr, but at the time I was busy touring. Three years and several works later, I accepted the offer and began working on True Life in 2014 while finishing up an illustration book.

At first the idea was to just produce a manga edition of Zephyr the West Wind. Although I definitely would have loved such an edition, I had always planned to utilize the world of "Tye" and region of "Tyring" for more than just the Chao Chronicles series. So after doing a poll and repeating my idea to Ryoma multiple times due to my excitement fueled speed talking, I finally decided that I would write something new. Completely independent from the chaos chronicles series storyline, I came up with a story that utilized the same world and timeline from Zephyr the West Wind. I was ecstatic!

Anyway, I would say that the True Life storyline moves pretty quickly in the beginning. Unlike someone who embodies the pure good in someone, I wanted to make Venn more versatile. I had an image of Venn and was able to capture him perfectly. I really can't wait to see how far this series will go - thanks to all it's fans and readers! Winding up, I hope you enjoy this volume and the series overall.
