The authors are clinical psychologists with extensive experience in teaching, consultation, psychological research, and psychotherapy. Dr. Daniel R. Boroto was a member of the psychology faculty at the Florida State University for 35 years and was the coordinator of the psychology training clinic for 15 years. Dr. Boroto taught a well-known and well-received Psychology of Adjustment course presented as an “owner’s manual” for each student’s life. Former students have created a Facebook page called “Borotocisms,” a series of aphorisms and pithy sayings which they found particularly meaningful in their lives. His work has been published in numerous professional journals. He is a sought-after presenter, providing training to the Office for National Statistics in the government of the United Kingdom, Internal Revenue Service, Center for Disease Control, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Tallahassee Crisis Center. Dr. Kate Lartigue taught at Tallahassee Community College and has provided clinical services to individuals, families, children, school systems, the Veterans Administration and institutions for the developmentally disabled. She has worked closely with Dr. Boroto for over 20 years. She currently lives in the New Orleans area with her psychiatrist husband and their two sons.
