The author, Jonathan Miller, aged 22, in 1970 traveled to India to study with His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi at his Academy in Rishikesh. Miller provides stories of his travels to and in India as well as 156 images, 152 of which he shot on slide film, converted to digital and reworked extensively for printing and publication.
The Beatles had lived in Maharishi's Academy in 1968. The world in 1970 was undergoing and enormous transformation from the cold war through the hippies to the spiritual revival which eventually led to the great prosperity and improved stability of our modern times
Chapter 1 is a compendium of much of what led the author to meditate, to travel to India, and then the first steps of the trip itself. There are subtitled sections for those of a linear mind. This chapter is an introduction; it is longer than the rest of the book and has fewer pictures. Chapter 2 sets the scene of life in Maharishi’s Academy in Rishikesh. Chapter 3 comprises pictures and recollections from Maharishi’s teachings at the Academy. Chapter 4 touches upon the great saint Sri Tat Wale Baba who lived in a cave in the jungle near the Academy and who was Maharishi’s friend. Chapter 5 embraces an experiene with the great saint Sri Anandamayi Ma, who spoke of Maharishi very warmly when the author went to see her and receive her darshan when she traveled to two of her ashrams—one in Dehradun (sometimes called Dehra Dun), and the other, on the road to the hill station, Mussoorie, a long taxi ride from Rishikesh. In Chapter 6, the author shares pictures and stories from his time at the Academy and is traveling to South India after the teacher training course had been completed. This included a trip to Bangalore with Maharishi and then a further journey to Alleppey, Trivandrum, Quilon, Kanyakumari, Rameswaram, and Madurai with Brahmachari Sattyanand, Geoffrey Baker and Fred den Ouden — traveling at Maharishi’s behest to accompany Sri Sattyanand to visit the places Maharishi did when he first left Uttarkashi in the Himalayas. Chapter 7 is a post-script and epilogue with some photos from times just subsequent.
The foreword is by noted author Jack Forem. There are 156 images, 152 of which are original photographs taken by the author. The photographs have been reworked and readjusted for the hardcover edition.

It is my belief that Maharishi's legacy has only just begun to be appreciated. May this book serve to introduce more readers to a great man and a visionary leader, as well as warming the hearts of those who did have the privilege of knowing him. - Jack Forem
“ The worth of this book is in its uniqueness, and Miller’s firsthand experiences will greatly appeal to the Maharishi’s fans or devotees. The photographs, in particular, will take many Westerners to an exciting world that’s geographically, culturally, and spiritually very different from their own.” — Kirkus Reviews
“A unique recollection and resource . . . . “ — Kirkus Reviews
