This pioneering curriculum contains powerful programs to teach each First Grade Common Core standard for both English Language Arts and Math. The curriculum has been created exclusively for students in special education settings using the evidence-based principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Completely unique, this curriculum drills down into each standard and breaks it into teachable steps. Programs are presented in a format that supports data collection and ease of use. Clear instructions detail the Teaching Procedure, Discriminative Stimulus, and Materials required for teaching. Each standard lists several targets that demonstrate the component steps and skills required for mastery. A thorough "how-to" guide presents the main tenets of ABA, giving staff an accessible understanding of motivation and reinforcement, pairing, prompting, generalization, natural environment teaching, preference assessment, and data collection. In addition, comprehensive data sheets are included, along with samples of how to complete them.
By equipping teachers with teachable steps for each and every standard, the ABA Curriculum for the Common Core puts students in Special Education on the path to achieving success.

Different Roads to Learning and Sam Blanco have developed the first of its kind: a user-friendly manual and kit of appropriate curriculum with materials for special needs students that aligns with The Common Core. The manual includes prepared data sheets and easy-to-read curriculum sheets. The ease of the data collection system enables teachers to progress through programs; when mastered, the curriculum includes instructions on how to move the skill into the generalization phase. The most exciting part of this product is that all materials are readily available for immediate use. In addition, the focus of the skills targeted are prerequisites for lifelong skills the student will need throughout their education and beyond. Utilizing the principles of applied behavior analysis, teachers will be able to use motivation and reinforcement techniques to enhance student learning. --Cheryl Davis, MSEd, BCBA
