Every veteran has a story to tell.
From the comical; a recruit having to guard an ammo dump with only an axe handle for a weapon. Or, a strait-laced soldier having to swear for five minutes to satisfy his platoon mates.
To the courageous; a Seaman waiting for his shipmates to get off safely before abandoning ship himself. Or a member of the highly decorated ‘Go For broke’ 442 battalion, fighting insurmountable odds to rescue ‘The Lost Texas Battalion.’
And finally, to the touching; a poem brought home by a soldier from the Battle of the Bulge. And a Marine who proudly guarded the grave of the man who helped mold his life.
They All Swore an Oath, highlights just a fraction of the myriad stories of the men and women who proudly served in our armed forces. Within these pages, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine veterans share their memories, covering every era from WWII, Korea, Viet Nam, Iraq, the Cold War, and relative times of peace in the world.
No matter what their respective MOS (job) in the military was: clerk, truck driver, medic, mechanic, or ground-pounding grunt, all swore an oath to uphold our constitution, even if it meant dying in the process.
It is the hope that these stories will inspire, enlighten, and entertain not only veterans, but non-veterans alike.
Together, we salute the service of these patriots.
