And Then I Smiled: Reflections on a Life Not Yet Complete, finds grace in life’s simplest moments. Through poems, inspiring essays and stories, readers journey from beaches, mountain streams and city parks to destinations in realms seldom visited, both inside and outside the physical world. Seemingly average moments of life create the backdrop for Miller’s keen observations and thought provoking, often deeply personal essays.

Perfect gift for Valentine's Day for the people in your life looking for inspiration and encouragement.

About the Author:
For 27 years, Miller has kept the skies safe as an air traffic controller for the FAA and received the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA) Northwest Mountain Region 2010 Archie League Safety Award. In his youth he completed a marathon, climbed a mountain, rafted Class IV whitewater, surfed, and performed standup comedy. Now in midlife, he seeks less risky adventures, spending his spare time fly fishing and volunteering for the veteran’s support group Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing. He lives in Colorado with his wife Laura and their two dogs, Bear and Snickers. Dean is a freelance writer, professional member of Northern Colorado Writers, and Colorado Poets Center. His work has appeared in literature journals and magazines, several anthologies, and online literary e-zines. His creative nonfiction essays won three separate contests at www.midlifecollage.com. Echoes: Reflections Through Poetry and Verse was published by Hot Chocolate Press in November 2014. Miller is editor for the anthology The Water Holds No Scars: Fly Fishing Stories of Rivers and Rejuvenation (http://www.amazon.com/The-Water-Holds-Scars-Rejuvenation/dp/0692583580). He seeks life’s questions because finding the answers creates new adventures.
