About the Author
Ed Rucker has been a criminal defense lawyer his entire career, tryingover 200 jury trials, including 13 death penalty cases. Among his highprofile trials, Ed represented John Orr, a Glendale Fire Departmentarson investigator who was reputed to be the greatest serial arsonist in American history, a trial memorialized in Fire Lover, by JosephWambaugh; Laurianne Sconce, the matriarch of the family-owned LambFuneral Home, whose trial that was the subject of the book Ashes, byJames Joseph; Eddie Nash, a prominent nightclub owner, who was chargedin a death penalty case, and who was portrayed in the film, BoogieNights; and William Harris, a member of the Symbionese Liberation Army,who kidnapped Patty Hearst. Ed has received numerous awards, includingthe L.A. Criminal Bar Association's "Trial Lawyer of the Year," and theLA County Bar Association's "Distinguished Career Award." He is listedin "Best Lawyers in America," and was elected to the American Board ofCriminal Lawyers.
