About the Author

T. Carlos "Tim" Anderson is a bilingual Protestant minister working in Austin, Texas. When the Great Recession began in 2007, Anderson became increasingly appalled at the way the economic catastrophe was handled by the government and by society: "It's as if our most important goals are to take care of the rich first and foremost." Driven by the feeling that he could do something to address American society's missteps, he began crafting "Just a Little Bit More" in 2012. The author dedicated the book to his mother and father, who he says instilled "an appreciation of efficiency, moderation, and wisdom" from an early age. Tim completed a seminary internship in Peru after college and was ordained a pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). His immersion into the culture and language of Latin America would later spur his pen name, T. Carlos (a twist on his given middle name, Carl). After completing seminary, he spent seven years at Holy Cross Lutheran in Houston and now heads the congregation of St. John's/ San Juan in Austin. Creating a piece of work that illustrates the equality and humanitarianism that is taught within Christianity seemed like a natural extension. Although the book certainly rests on the biblical teachings of justice forged thousands of years ago, it is completely translated to apply to the issues of today. His goal is to start a conversation that reaches beyond the walls of the church. Tim's near-obsession with consuming books of history, politics, and sociology, such as Richard Rhodes's The Making of the Atomic Bomb and Daniel Yergin's The Prize, helped him hone his own writing skills and instilled an urge to contribute his own ideas to the canon: "I was the guy who showed up at parties and basketball games with a book - always." He has always valued the intellectual aspects of reading as well as the ability of a book to facilitate a conversation between author and reader. While this work carefully pinpoints some uncomfortable truths about the current state of American civilization, the overall tone is hopeful and positive about humanity's potential to construct a more egalitarian society.
