Synopsis

Fight evil with Izzy and her friends in this thrilling adventure series for boys and girls aged 7 and up!

As a royal prince takes his first breath, strange things happen to the Twolegs of Chichester. It's something to do with the swirling purple cloud that has suddenly appeared above the cathedral. A little deaf girl and her pet rabbit, Plectrum, have no idea about the danger they are in - or how their lives will change forever. Once again, the creatures of Chichester help solve the mystery as they battle with the starving foxes howling in the night.

The print version font size and line spacing, makes this book very readable for dyslexics. Also available as an audiobook and e-book.

If you enjoyed The Animals of Farthing Wood by Colin Dann or The Beastquest series by Adam Blade you will love this book.

There are SIX exciting mysteries to solve: The one about the stolen dog, the one about the mystery blaze, the one about the curious cloud, the one about the smelly ghosts, the one about the edible aliens and the one about the golden lake - each one a stand-alone story - so read them in any order you like.

Review

I love the way that Christopher Joyce brings the many Creatures of Chichester to life. In this book, the creatures are rescuing all the human Twolegs from the threat, and induced deafness, of the "curious cloud." Their teamwork is admirable, and the story involves plenty of action to keep young minds interested, as well as plenty of humour around the edges of the main storyline. The inclusion of Izzy, a deaf child, as the main human character helps to educate readers about deafness, and even to introduce them to a little bit of sign language. Without giving away details about the cause of the cloud, I can say that this book also manages to deliver a great environmental message to young readers.
