She gave up on family a long time ago. Now she’s been ‘adopted’, is there anything she wouldn’t do to protect those brave enough to take her on? Heck no there isn’t!
Brenda Munroe was mercenary even as a child. It was that or going hungry, or worse. From stealing school lunches, she’d moved onto bigger, better and even legal things. Life is finally looking up for her when her carefully created world comes crashing down. Stuck thousands of miles from home and broke, it’s going to take every ounce of her street smarts to survive this time.Strapped for cash — and with a real aversion to the old nine-to-five — Brenda opens a residential school for girls, teaching them in weeks what it’s taken her years to master. Namely, how to get by on good looks and a bucket-load of charm. Will her students be the only ones learning new skills, or will Brenda finally understand family’s about a whole lot more than the blood relations you’ve been lumbered with? Strapped for Cash is a rollicking, laugh-out-loud book for any woman who’s ever wanted to take life by the scruff of the neck and shake the heck out of it.WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:So far out of the 4 books I've read in this series I must say I loved this one the most. It's hilarious and the characters are each different in personality but all play an important role throughout the story. I never read books twice but I'm sure I'll be reading this series again in the future. Can't wait for the next book. 5-STARSLoved it. Couldn't wait to get to the end. HAD to know what was going to happen. Felt that all the books had finally 'tied' everything up - literally and metaphorically... This would make an amusing television series. The little nods to things from the Seventies were a great touch, with just enough to make you cast your mind back fondly without overwhelming you with cheesy nostalgia. Not chick lit. Not pure comedy. Not romance. Not crime. But a delicious mixture of all those genres. 5-STARSLoved this series and this book tied up everything nicely. The humor and wit throughout the book was delightful and I was laughing out loud a few times. This writer gets better and better! 5-STARSNOTE: Originally published as "Screwed for Money" - this book can be read as a standalone"synopsis" may belong to another edition of this title.
Brenda is the no-nonsense character in That Seventies Series and in book three we really get to know her. After a bereavement in Australia and trusting her inheritance with a wrong 'un, Brenda flees to England to move back in with returning character, Eadie. This is where the story really starts. I enjoyed the setting of Eadie's London home with its many rooms and the characters; from Flo the speedy charlady to Justin... what is he? Brenda now has to earn a living at the same time as dealing with Eadie's nemesis Wallace. There is a possible promise of romance, but ends with something better - independence! An uplifting read. 5-STARS - Samantha Henthorn, Author
Book number three in the series and follows on with the same likeable cast from previous. Set in the 70's, at times it is laugh out loud funny. These books leave me wanting to know more about the characters as you want to get to know them even more. 5-STARS, K Bramley, Amazon Reviewer
