About the Author:

Before the age of one, Adam was moved into a bona fide lunatic asylum back in 1970’s, before political correctness had made it to sunny Hertfordshire. His early experiences in life include answering the door to pyjama-clad patients, often with no dentures, and very little concern about what others may have thought about them, gesturing for cigarettes. Some would get caught short and leave a few deposits on the front lawn. This was once deemed normal in his world. After leaving the asylum seventeen years later, and brief careers in catering, banking and counseling, he commenced his nurse training, and spent thirteen years in the profession. His conversations with the critically ill, and those who were about to die sparked a quest for what is truly important in life, along with a knowledge of what was available outside of the health system to give people hope, after doctors told them there was nothing else they could do. This semi-spiritual journey almost caused him to give up alcohol. Fortunately, he saw the light, and continued to enjoy his life, accept his Lunatic Gene, and find a middle way to balance all of the habits he was told he shouldn’t be doing, with the things he was advised that he should be. Taking small steps towards happiness is what he advocates, speaks and teaches on. These days he dances on both sides of the psychiatric divide, with a cheeky smile and the odd drink!
