Chris Kubecka, founder and CEO of HypaSec, is a decorated U.S. Air Force aviator and Space Command veteran whose path into technology began early. At the age of ten she hacked the U.S. Department of Justice and the FBI, a preview of the advanced technical instincts that would define her career.
She helped restore global business operations at Saudi Aramco after one of the largest cyberattacks in history, working with an exceptional team under immense pressure. She has since advised governments, militaries, and international institutions on cyber defence, artificial intelligence, drone warfare, offensive technology, and the protection of critical infrastructure.
When Russia invaded Ukraine, Chris helped organize an OSINT-driven evacuation effort. After fleeing Kyiv herself, she aided the rescue of a prominent basketball player targeted for ransom and then coordinated the safe passage of thousands of foreign students in occupied areas. She and her team guided caravans, tracked routes, managed humanitarian shipments, leveraged diplomatic back channels, and distributed intelligence in real time.
Her investigative work includes exposing vulnerabilities in Boeing's 737 MAX systems through responsible disclosure and later serving as a whistleblower when the company retaliated. She has served as Distinguished Chair in Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies at the Middle East Institute and was recruited for the U.S. Defense Science Board as a subject-matter expert on generative AI and cyberwarfare, a role placed on hold by executive order in 2025.
Chris has been recognized with high military decorations, the Order of Thor, and other professional honours. Her research on post-quantum cryptography ranked in the top two percent of global publications on ResearchGate in 2024. Today she continues to publish under the name SecEvangelism, delivering unfiltered analysis, technical breakdowns, and sharp commentary across IG, X, Substack, Medium, BlueSky, and Rumble.
Chris Kubecka is a cyber warfare, artificial intelligence for military applications and offensive digital security expert. How to use tech to kill & fun at parties. Advisor to several governments, a popular speaker, trainer, panelist and moderator at security conferences, universities and parliaments. Author of several training courses and the book Down the Rabbit Hole an OSINT Journey.

Hack the World with OSINT is both a handbook and a hacker's travelogue. It takes the reader on a global misadventure through the exposed surfaces of our modern world, showing how much of our critical infrastructure and private data sits vulnerable to anyone who knows where to look.
This book builds on the foundations of Down the Rabbit Hole: An OSINT Journey, which first revealed how reconnaissance and open data could expose the weaknesses of governments, corporations, and even the Panama Papers law firm. Hack the World with OSINT goes further, expanding from IT into the internet of things and industrial control systems. It is a book about how digital reconnaissance can be applied everywhere, from smart appliances to hydroelectric dams.
Inside, readers will learn how to use tools such as Censys, Spiderfoot, ZMap, OWASP ZAP, and Maltego to uncover vulnerabilities in IT, IoT, and SCADA systems. The book demonstrates how to analyze network and email configurations for exploitable weaknesses. It provides exercises, examples, and even a custom virtual machine environment so that readers can practice and learn safely.
Case studies illustrate the range of exposures. Readers will encounter examples including:
* Fire alarms that leak sensitive information
* Database servers misconfigured and open to the world
* Intelligence agency security failures hiding in plain sight
* Smart houses and smart grids vulnerable to remote manipulation
* Solar panel systems exposing owners to attack
* Hydroelectric facilities showing cracks in their digital defenses
* Printers, email systems, and remote management interfaces left unsecured
The book also explores larger themes: how reconnaissance blurs the line between defense and offense, how the same techniques can be used by penetration testers or malicious actors, and how the growth of IoT and industrial networks has multiplied the number of potential targets.
Written in a style that combines technical instruction with irreverent humor, Hack the World with OSINT is meant to make learning both accessible and entertaining. It does not only list tools and techniques but shows how to think like an investigator, following leads across systems, networks, and platforms until a full picture emerges.
For penetration testers, investigators, and cybersecurity professionals, this book is a practical guide to reconnaissance at scale. For journalists and curious readers, it is an eye-opening look at how exposed our digital lives have become. For anyone interested in defense, it is a reminder that proactive reconnaissance is the first step toward protection.
Hack the World with OSINT delivers what its title promises: a roadmap for seeing the world through the lens of open source intelligence, where vulnerabilities hide in plain sight and every system tells a story to those willing to listen.
