Children are often told to "Pay attention!", but how do they do that when a child's emotions and thoughts change so quickly? Mad to Glad teaches children the following Mindfulness lessons in a fun and interactive way to increase their focusing abilities. The lessons included are,
Energy transfer: Using physical movement to change negative thoughts to a positive attitude of the mind.
Visualizations: Using a child's imagination to achieve goals.
Affirmations: Using positive phrases to build a child's confidence.
Focused breathing: Using the breath to become aware of the present moment.
For ages 3-7.

As a librarian in Elementary School, I can honestly say we have never had a book that was so valuable to our teachers, while being fun for the kids to read. Teachers in our school are using this book to help children understand their emotions and value their feelings. The author has even agreed to do a reading for our K through 2 students and we are so excited!

I already have a copy of this book and it has fast become one of our favorite "go to" books for Story time. As a parent of a 3 year old, I am so thrilled to have this book in our "tool box" and help my little lady learn to identify and manage her powerful emotions via developing her own mindfulness practice. There are so many books designed for children that are just plain painful for parents to read over and over at the request of their children and others which simply have no intrinsic value but this book is NOT one of them! I just ordered 3 copies of Mad to Glad: Mindfulness Lessons to Help Children Cope with Changing Emotions so I can gift them and share this wonderful treasure with others and the little people in their lives. I love the message and the illustrations are perfect! I can't wait to see the author/publisher's next books!

This book is my children's favorite "going to bed" book. It truly connects to them like no other book. I believe it is the simple language, that is also designed to very intentionally help children understand that they can control their lives, mindfully. This simple, but deliberate way, helps them connect their problems to simple solutions, which instantly makes them very excited and empowered. Once they understand they can take charge of their emotions, they start feeling self-control, kindness and understanding to themselves and others. Even I use some of the simple tools to help myself take charge of my emotions, and I am a grown up :)

Mad to Glad is an amazing & well constructed book for children struggling with everyday emotions & emotional situations. This book is a roadmap for parents & children alike in learning how to deal with the 'day to day' struggles that life throws at you, both young & old. Read 'Mad to Glad' & you / your son-daughter will be armed with the tools to overcome common hardships in the classroom, on the playground, before bedtime. It's a true gem!

Incorporating mindfulness into the lives of my family is important to me. However, providing the right tools is not always easy. This book taught us simple exercises that we can practice anytime, anywhere. My 1st grader can never stay angry after applying the jumping technique - the giggles just start flowing. Thank you Angie!
