Synopsis
Academics' Choice Award Winner
French for Kids Set 2 is a confidence-building set of first French readers that make learning French achievable for children ages 3-8. Developed with teachers, the Spot Color Immersion Method® combines picture cues, simple sentences, repetition, humor and context in just one line of text per page to help beginners learn vocabulary. Children read each page by themselves and before they know it, they've finished their first little French reader, then all 10, an early success that motivates and bolsters confidence. Set 2 features:
- 10 beginner readers, each with a simple storyline and 10 theme vocabulary words
- One line of French text per page with repetition
- English translation at the back
- Bilingual English-French vocabulary chart on the inside cover
- Online audio narration by a native speaker ensures children learn the correct pronunciation. Access the online audio using the web address/URL in the books (stream or download).
Set 2 has 10 themes: Food, Verbs, Tableware, Art Supplies, Feelings, Nature, Jobs, Furniture, Bedtime and a Surprise Delivery. The vocabulary choice was reviewed by editors/teachers. Unlike most bilingual children's books, the English translation is at the back so kids stay in French but get help if needed.
French for Kids is a perfect beginner series for children in preschool, kindergarten French and elementary and supplements flash cards. Toddlers and babies can listen/look. Kids learn with ease when vocabulary words are in a story context. They delight in a gourmet feast, a day at the park, a mystery delivery and more adventures with their friends Claire, Théo, Minette, Ernie and Michel le Génial.
Teachers, homeschools and parents recognize that French books for kids are often too hard for a beginner, leading to frustration. Kids feel accomplished after finishing these 10 readers and say, "I read these little stories on my own-in French!"
