When is the last time you saw people standing outside in December, waiting in the cold rain to buy . . . a doughnut? I saw it for the first time this past weekend at the Hi-Five Doughnut shop in Louisville, KY.  

I was there to introduce this book, which is about (among other things) the Hi-Five breakthrough. In some way, I figured, Breaking the Glaze Ceiling had to become a breakthrough book all its own. And I think it is.

It's a breakthrough book because it's a true story I didn't expect to come true. My daughter Annie and her partner Leslie jumped ship from safe corporate jobs to take on the risk of starting--of all things--a brand-new doughnut business. They evolved their business from a tent to a food truck to a stand-alone store. They attracted thousands of fans on social media. They got national exposure. Best of all, they did all of it without paying for a single ad.

It's a breakthrough book because it also describes some of the ceilings I broke through during this time. I've written 16 books which have collectively sold more than a million copies--but this is the first book I've authored alone. I was compelled to write it.
 
I've been a professor, consultant, coach, and speaker in business for more than 40 years. About the Author

Lyle is the former Chairman and Professor of Management, College of Business, University of Louisville. He received his BS and MS from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and his Ph.D. from Purdue. Aside from 60 scholarly articles, he is a bestselling business author with more than 1,000,000 copies of his16 books in print, which in aggregate have been translated into 15 languages. Lyle has taught, lectured, and consulted around the world. His impact as a speaker, consultant, educator, and author has resulted in his selection for Who's Who in Business Higher Education.
