About the Author

Melissa Mae Palmer is a mother of five and the "Ultimate Survivor." This story is compelling because she has survived three terminal illnesses by age 40. She has so much strength and will drop anything to help others. Dr. Tim Lubenow at Rush University Medical Center has been her supporting physician since 2003. He has written 1/3 of the book on RSD and Complex Regional Pain Sundrome. Melissa Palmer built a huge cancer support group with her disability and she donated it to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital called Cancer Soul Survivors. Also, she was the top fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life Barrington for two years. She is modest and was nominated the queen for Relay for Life and she did not want it. She did not want an award for it but she wanted to honor her spectacular team. She won the community "caring" award from Barrington Juniors Club and I'm so proud of her. Remember, she is very ill, has 5 children and gives her heart and soul to many causes. She is a feisty and passionate fighter. She is disabled and going through a divorce with her physician husbnad that she thought was her Prince while raising 5 children and going through life which is another Survivorship story. Melissa, is the most beautiful girl that many have ever met on the inside and outside. She would give you her last cup of water to another person. Melissa knows how to be positive with divorce, cancer , RSD, complex pain and the issues associated with blending families with a strong focus on God.
