This book tells the story of A Soldier's Child (ASC) Foundation's Founder and Executive Director Daryl JW Mackin and the inspiration to launch the nationwide nonprofit ASC after his neighbors lost their son in Iraq, March 27, 2007. It follows one man s personal journey through trials and hardship and how he was able to put a good intention into action. ASC has grown with the heart-felt conviction to care for the children who have lost a parent due to military service. Many of these children are suffering and often they are not on our nation's radar. ASC believes it is not the responsibility our government or military to care for these widows and orphans. This is a job for those of us who live free with our kids, the 99% of us that do not bear the burden of defending our family's freedom. We are the ones with a debt to pay, we have a responsibility to sow love, honor and hope into the lives of these children. By doing this, we stand alongside them as they learn to overcome adversity and live a courageous life. We resolve to answer the questions of those who have been left in the wake of losing a military parent, Did it really matter, and does anyone even care? Find out ASC's answers to these questions and join us on this journey to remind the children of our fallen military that they are never forgotten. Marine Staff Sergeant Marcus Golczynski had written a letter to his family and friends explaining why he decided come out of the reserves and go back on another tour to Iraq with his unit. He wanted to be the one leading his men into battle. In his letter, Marc said Don t feel sorry for us, we are warriors and as warriors that have gone before us, we fight and sometimes die so our families don't have to. Stand besides us, we would do it for you.
