This handbook compiles 40 years of training and treatment into a single process for a healthy life. Using clear instruction it moves a person to find life pattern, which is a repeating, systematic, strategic process for negotiating life stress. Finding a pattern is an eye opening experience, I see, perhaps for the first time, how each step in my life was not random. Each person formulates a pattern to manage their thoughts and actions. Patterns exist to organize my life so that it makes sense to me. This handbook takes scripture and explains how and why patterns form. From this beginning, it offers direction and practice toward healthy change. Change happens at the pace you desire. The key is knowing what your pattern is. This knowledge frees you to determine your future unfettered by past events and feelings.

John Mauldin is a retired Psychologist who lives in the North Georgia mountains. I am a writer, reader, fly fisher person, Vietnam veteran, husband, father and friend. I believe the most important aspect of life is emotional health. With it, a person can improve physical health, life fulfiloment and happiness. I believe God gave us several gifts which we forget and squander from time to time; however, these gifts remain continually available. Sometimes, hard times and trauma forces us unto unhealthy beliefs, actions, and emotional unhealth. I believe anyone can be emotionally healthy. Emotional health is a choice for adults. Securing the instruction, direction, support and boundaries needed personally to make sense of the way a person lives life creates emotional improvement, and with practice, emotional health. After working in counseling for 40 over years, he retired to write these thoughts with the hope they motivate people who want to change with a simple straightforward system that helps them find what fulfills them.
