Synopsis
Nathan was a scuba diving instructor living in a garage on the beach in the Turks and Caicos when he met his wife-to-be, Lucy.
They spent the infancy of their relationship leaving their friends and families scratching their heads as they adopted nine stray dogs before deciding to have a child of their own. After their nuptials on a deserted island, they began a decade long journey to fulfil their dream. It was at times filled with sadness and loss, but their four-legged family and close circle of lifelong childhood friends helped them persevere. Surviving a major hurricane in the Caribbean and losing all their worldly possessions in a wildfire in western Canada was nothing compared to the loss of their four unborn children and infant daughter. They agreed to try and make their family complete one more time; only for their son Otto to be born prematurely at just 26 weeks, clinging to life.
Nathan gives a rare glimpse into a father and husband's emotional turmoil, pleading with God to somehow give him the strength to be there for his wife and tiny infant son while they navigated months in the NICU.
