(shout out to the single mothers!) we were poor and we struggled to make ends meet.
The early portions of my life were rough, and I know that there are others just like me who had a difficult time growing up without a father. In my early teen years is when I found a love for poetry to be able to express myself and pour out my heart even though there was no one there to listen.
It wasn’t until my young adult years when I decided to give my life over to God, I started writing poetry about him, his love, his deliverance, his forgiveness for me and others who have fallen short of his glory.
And now I feel it necessary to write to those men and women, fathers and mothers, husbands and wives, sons and daughters which in one way or many ways you can relate to my work and my story and to know that you are not alone and there is light at the end of the tunnel.
I know if God did it for me, he can do it for you. I wrote this book and there are others in production with the reader in mind to become an over comer of the struggles and to celebrate each other.”

A millennial has changed the direction of what poetry stands for in his own captivating way. An originator that took life by the reigns out of high school graduating mid-term from Bakersfield high, D. L. Winters used a pin and paper to pencil in his passion for writing. He landed a few odd jobs before finding a career in the construction industry. 
Getting married and starting a family early, his passions were put on hold in order to provide for his family.

 Life happened, and time went on. The passion was still burning within, by the age of 26, he took a creative writing course that helped propel him in the direction of his heart.
He had collected enough poetry to place it in his first self-published book.And by May 2015 it launched. Author D. L. Winters defies the laws of poetry. He goes above and beyond any poet that you are familiar with. His style is completely ingenious in his use of words and imagery. His traditional way of writing is in favor of new forms of expression, yet he leads the reader to an intended conclusion.All the while voicing his created unique form of speech.
Traveling the country in his now current career as a commercial truck driver, he was able to continue his passion. By 2016 he had enough poems to publish a second book. The title to his series of books is titled "Poems From all Angles". He has a concern for the people and wanted to write poetry about all angles of life. He made a decision of turning his life over to Jesus Christ and take God seriously, his passion of writing was reflecting what was in his heart the entire time. 

 He committed to a series of poetry pertaining to life in general. And now he lives his life as an over comer willing to write about solutions to issues in life and having a keen since of direction of sharing truth. His work is worth looking into, he strives to push out quality work to leave no one disappointed.
