About the Book. “Holistic” in the book’s title implies that energetics here is the targeting of potential energy at the complex level transcendent over calorific flow among the composite parts. The book presents three short essays. The essays share the same proposition that holistic energetics can reveal latent structural attributes hidden from observers of the reduces complex. The first essay interprets complexity, the reduction of complexity, and statistical dialects designed for the complex itself. The second takes Max Planck’s energy-based entropy (EBE), a proxy function for potential energy, and turns it into a multi-scaling tool in the manner of Kaniadakis’ generalised quantum entropy (GQE). The third presents a set of Kürşad Özkan’s survey data from the Beyşehir watershed of Turkey and its analysis. EBE of the vegetation complex is parametrised by two integer numbers, the complexes taxonomic richness (n) and the total performance unit count of the n taxa (T). GQE has an extra parameter k. The analysis’ underlying conceptual model is Planck’s resonator complex with n resonators and total energy unit count T. The key parameter in the model is P, a function of n and T, if not given by theory. P selects the Planck complex which we use for reference. P as applied here is the probability of the vegetation complex materializing in an uncertain assembly process exactly such as observed in the field. Concepts and results are interpreted to students in Quantitative Ecology.
