Antonio de Villegas (Medina del Campo, Valladolid, c. 1522-c. 1551). España. Junto con Gregorio Silvestre y otros discípulos de Cristóbal de Castillejo se opuso a las tendencias italianizantes de la poesía de su época. Escribió obras en verso y en prosa, reunidas en Inventario (1565), que incluye la Historia del Abencerraje y la hermosa Jarifa, primera novela morisca, escrita hacia 1551 (cuya autoría no todos atribuyen a Villegas). El Inventario incluye también Ausencia y soledad de amor, breve novela pastoril, y varios poemas (Historia de Píramo, Contienda de Áyax).
