Praise for Smart Stewardship for Nonprofits
"Peter has done it again. Smart Stewardship for Nonprofits belongs on the top-ten list for nonprofit executives and boards, especially those who are new to the field. Always insightful, always practical—the principles in this book will not wear out."
—Rev. Jerry W. Paul, President and CEO, Deaconess Foundation
"For the leaders of so many organizations that are facing tough decisions, Smart Stewardship for Nonprofits will serve as a guide to help them stay focused on their missions, true to their values, and grounded in reality. This book will catalyze a lot of strategic thinking, and couldn't be more timely for all those devoted to making the world a better place."
—Jeff Nugent, President and CEO, The Center for Leadership Innovation
"Brinckerhoff's Smart Stewardship for Nonprofits helps nonprofits find their true north, balancing innovation in a rapid growth environment with the need to stay rooted in what truly matters: the mission. It offers practical tips and tools for getting your board, staff, and stakeholders on the same page and keeping them there. This book belongs on the shelf of every nonprofit leader."
—Darian Rodriguez Heyman, Co-Producer, Social Media for Nonprofits, and Editor, Nonprofit Management 101
"Peter has produced a clear and concise guide that presents best practices from both the not-for-profit and for-profit worlds. He uses examples that make the book relevant for, and accessible to, anyone wanting to optimize the mission of their organization."
—Roger Hallowell, Affiliated Professor of Strategy and Business Policy, HEC Paris
"Peter Brinckerhoff has done it again. Another must-read for any nonprofit leader who wants to create a solid, mission-driven organization. What makes this book so valuable is that Brinckerhoff presents theories and then practical tools to implement change. I wouldn't be surprised if he wins the Terry McAdam Book Award for best nonprofit management book of the year a fourth time."
—Carol Weisman, MSW, CSP, President, Board Builders
"Peter Brinckerhoff's latest book, Smart Stewardship for Nonprofits, reads as if you're sitting down for a good chat over a cup of tea. The engaging dialogue throughout the book guides the reader through the issues, challenges, discussions, and decisions in which organizational leaders engage in order to 'do more and better mission.' Particularly, the process outlined in Chapter 9 is so practical and accessible that the Ronald McDonald House Charities was able to engage key stakeholders, complete the assessment and action plan, roll up our sleeves, and set about our work, all in a relatively short period of time."
—Janet L. Burton, Sr. Director, Field Relations, Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc.
