About the Author
Brooke born on September 24 in Birkenhead, England. His illustrations in Andrew Lang's Nursery Rhyme Book (printed 1897) started his career and reputation, a children's book illustrator. Pen-and-ink line drawings and watercolors medium. He proceeded to Royal Academy in London where he received the prestigious Armitage medal in 1888. Other works include: Johnny Crow's Garden (1903) "Ring O' Roses,” "The Golden Goose Book” Johnny Crow's Party (1907) Johnny Crow's New Garden (1935) "The Nursery Rhyme Book" "Oranges and Lemons” Brooke has two paintings in British National Collections.
