In state his glory well befitting, The ruler of the realm was seen. *This poem was embodied in one of Foe's most famous tales, "The Fall of the House of Usher." The poem is an allegory of a beautiful mind wrecked by evil and sorrow. 15. Ramparts. Fortified walls. 22. Porphyrogene. A title given to the Greek emperors, and meaning "born tu the purple."
