An Assyrian is shown playing upon the double-flute in Fig. 56. It is much to be regretted that no details as to the construction of these instruments can be gleaned from the ancient bas-reliefs. No attempt seems to have been made to mark even the position of the holes. The use of the double-flute by nations with whom the Jews had constant intercourse having been shown, nothing more can be said.
