About this title

About the Author

John Gilpin is an historian and writer with a BA and MA in history from the University of Alberta and a PhD in economic history from the University of Leicester, England. His interests include the settlement of western Canada, with a particular emphasis on transportation, water resources and urban development.

William Cowper was a poet and a hymnodist who changed the direction of 18th-century nature poetry by writing on everyday life and scenes of the English countryside. Nick Rhodes is an editor and a poet.
