The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how our nation and our military must prepare for future adversaries. Since September 11th 2001, our military has been engaged in the war on terrorism. September 11th also significantly changed the way it looks at its homeland security, and thereafter, established the Department of Homeland Security. The problem our nation and our military face today is the fact that the military is being forced to answer the call for warfighting, homeland defense and humanitarian assistance missions. This is causing severe overstretch of military resource and gradually creating a security dilemma. This essay suggests a cure for this dilemma by suggesting a conscription plan, that will strengthen our nation's defense posture and alleviate our military from many of the task for which it is now responsible.
