Synopsis
It all begins in a Navy hospital where a veteran with a bum leg falls in love with the Wave on ward duty. They have had some glamorous Waves, even girls who were pretty and could play Boogie Woogie too. But Henrietta was plump and determined and wore glasses and didn't like clothes and didn't understand flirtation. Jim was somehow just deeply touched by her. He felt that with a girl like Henrietta, so sensible and bent on going her own way, he would be able to go his own way. His way involved experimenting with life, to see how much fun he could have without missing any of the same old wonderful things that always have made people happy and still do, even now - home, kids, gardens, friends, books, and a workable relationship with God and man.
