About the Author

Ian Whybrow s many popular successes range from picture books to novels for older children. Best known for his original humour, he always writes with adult readers as well as young ones in mind. He has a brilliant ear for voices, and takes pride in the fact that his work reads aloud very well. I loved being read to as a child, he says. And I loved the sense that my parents were enjoying it too. For me, that s the acid test for any book that there s something in it for everyone to enjoy.

The Right Honourable Lord Millett of Marylebone was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1973 and currently sits on the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong.

Jonathan Emmett is the author of A Turtle in the Toilet and A Mouse in the Marmalade, both illustrated by Caroline Jayne Church. He lives in Nottingham, England, with his family.

Claire Llewellyn is a prize-winning author of nonfiction for young readers. In 1991 she was shortlisted for the prestigious TES Junior Information Book Award for MacDonald's Take One: Rubbish, and in 1992 she won that award for My First Book of Time. Since then she has written more than 20 children's books on a wide range of subjects. She is the author of Kingfisher's recent Saints and Angels. Claire lives in Hertford.

Catherine Chambers was born in Adelaide, Australia, and was brought up in the UK. She has written about 120 books for children and young adults on all kinds of subjects, including history, biographies, science and the arts.
