About the Author:
Sir Richard Tangye (born in 1833) was an engineer, a Justice of the Peace for Birmingham and for Warwickshire and Cornwall, a Member of the Imperial Institute, a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, and Chairman of Tangyes Limited, a Birmingham engineering firm. He was also the author of "One and All," "Reminiscences of Travel in America, Australia and Egypt." His magnum opus, however, has been this book.
