About the Author

Suzanne Slade is the author of 90 books for children including Basketball, How it Works for Sports Illustrated for Kids.  She holds a Mechanical Engineering degree and worked on rockets and cars before becoming a full-time children's writer. Her titles have been recognized by the Junior Library Guild, Paterson Prize Books for Young People, Notable Social Studies Trade Books for Young People, and the California Reading Association. When she's not writing, Suzanne enjoys rollerblading, walking her dog, or shooting hoops in the driveway with her children.
