The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics brings you the latest guidelines, procedures, and treatment and management strategies for inpatient pediatric care. The field of pediatric hospital medicine is rapidly growing and this handbook focuses specifically on caring for pediatric patients in the hospital setting.

The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics addresses over 350 commonly encountered inpatient pediatric medical conditions. Unlike other handbooks, it goes beyond diagnostic strategies to include complete treatment and management guidelines. The focus on the treatment of so many inpatient pediatric medical conditions means that it can be used by everyone who cares for pediatric patients in the hospital—medical students, residents, and pediatric attendings. Additionally, the organization of the book makes it immensely accessible. The clinical sections are alphabetized and subheadings are consistent throughout the book to make finding information quick and easy.

Readers will have rapid access to tables listing pediatric dosages for emergency, airway, and rapid sequence intubation medications, as well as defibrillation and cardioversion protocols. Classic and current evidence-based references are included. Invaluable appendices cover normal vital signs, neonatal codes, and PALS algorithms. A fresh, new approach to pediatric literature, this indispensable handbook offers concise, precise information for healthcare practitioners of all levels, from all disciplines, involved in the care of children in the inpatient setting.

Review:
"This is a much needed book. It contains the information needed to make fast, informed decisions. The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics is much less cumbersome than Rudolf's and much more clinically based than Harriet Lane. I'm anxious to get it in my hands to use it!" - Medicine/Pediatrics Resident, Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston, South Carolina "The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics is an excellent text. It is well written, easy-to-read, concise, and very complete. The book covers the most important topics encountered by pediatric residents. Topics are presented in a very straightforward and easy-to-understand manner - I've already used some examples to teach my interns and medical students! It included multiple treatment options, medication dosing and other pearls, which are very helpful, especially on the resident and attending staff level." - Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Resident, Tulane University, New Orleans, LA "The strengths of The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics are its succinctness, the way the subjects are divided into headings, and the thoroughness of the information. There is definitely more specific and detailed information in this book than in the competition. This will be a very helpful and successful book, and a great resource to have on the wards. I would highly recommend this to my colleagues." - Pediatrics Resident, University of California, San Francisco, San Francisco, CA "With the hectic life of a Pediatric resident, this book will be a must. Compared to other texts that are often used in pediatrics, such as Nelson's or Rudolph's, The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics seems to have as much information about each topic, but it's easier to find and it's better because there is more detail under the treatment sections." - Pediatrics Resident, The University Children's Hospital, University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey, Newark, NJ "Overall, The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics is a good book that I would recommend. The chapters cover a remarkable amount of material in a very concise manner that is easy to read and follow." - Pediatric Resident, Texas Children's Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital, Houston, Texas "The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics allows a good short review of important topics. It is obvious that a lot of work and effort went into it. I would recommend this to my fellow residents." - Medicine-Pediatrics Resident, Los Angeles County - USC Medical Center, Los Angeles, California "The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics has a different, more clinically useful approach than other books. It gives clear directions for making a diagnosis, and good emphasis on differential diagnosis. One of the things that a resident has to learn to do is to rule in a diagnosis, and so this is a crucial addition to any book of this kind. There are sections here that are not found in other texts of this type (at least that I am aware of), so this will be seen as a valued resource." - Class of 2004, Tulane University, New Orleans, Louisiana "The Philadelphia Guide: Inpatient Pediatrics will be a wonderful addition to any med student or pediatric resident's collection. The information is easily accessible and the format style is terrific. I like the fact that each disease/section is broken down into epidemiology, etiology, differential diagnosis, pathophys, etc. At the attending level, this book may serve as a quick reference guide during rounds on the inpatient ward. The topics and information in this book would have been useful during rounds as a pediatrics resident. In fact, when it comes out I will definitely purchase this book even though I will be in fellowship." - Pediatrics Resident, The University Children's Hospital, University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey, Newark, New Jersey
