Frederick Mario Fales is Professor of Ancient Near Eastern History at the University of Udine, Italy. His most recent works include a treatise on the history of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, L'impero assiro: storia e amministrazione, IX-VII sec. a. C. (2001), and Saccheggio in Mesopotamia (2006), which was short-listed for the Viareggio Book Prize in 2005.
