The text presents a coherent model of the research enterprise
The entire range of research methodologies in psychology are explored and explained in this comprehensive text, using a programmatic approach to introduce concepts and build sequentially. The authors emphasize research concepts rather than cookbook-like strategies, with clearly-written explanations and examples drawn from all areas of psychology. This Canadian edition has new and updated research examples, many of them using important research done in Canada. In addition, to foster student sensitivity to ethical issues in human and animal research, the Canadian Ethical Tri-Council Guidelines are examined in Chapter 2 and most chapters deal with some aspect of research ethics, keeping the issues visible throughout.
The companion website will greatly enhance students’ learning experience
At the beginning of each chapter there is a list of website resources. Throughout the chapters, web icons in the margin direct you to specific resources on the website that are relevant to the particular discussion. Each icon has its own code number telling you where on the Website you can locate additional material. Content includes an Interactive Study Guide and Lab Manual, several tutorials such as using web browsers, library research, statistical tables and analysis, and writing a research report in A.P.A.style, and expanded discussion of nearly two dozen topics.
