About the Author

Candace Bushnell is the critically acclaimed and best-selling author of Sex and the City, Four Blondes, Trading Up, and Lipstick Jungle. Her first book, Sex and the City, was the basis for the HBO hit television show and movie. Her fourth book, Lipstick Jungle, was a drama on NBC and she was an active producer on that show. Bushnell is also the host of Sex, Success and Sensibility, a live radio show on Sirius Stars. She lives in New York City.

From AudioFile

This is SEX AND THE CITY--for seniors. One Fifth Avenue is the ultimate NYC address, so when its 7,000-square-foot penthouse becomes vacant--through the bizarre death of its nearly 100-year-old owner--the tenants, present, future, and past, clamor for the space. However, even a narrator as skilled as Donna Murphy can't keep all the voices straight. But shifting from pathos to bitchiness to mirth, Murphy tries to capture them all. Best moment--the vulgar, drunken wake. Best character--Lola Fabricant, an Atlanta gold digger who strives to be Carrie Bradshaw of SEX AND THE CITY. This is worth a listen while doing meaningless chores but not something that will linger long in the mind. M.T.B. © AudioFile 2009, Portland, Maine

Paperback. Condition: USED_FINE. One Fifth Avenue, the Art Deco beauty towering over Manhattan's hippest neighbourhood, is a one-of-a-kind address, the sort of building you have to earn your way into ? one way or another. For the women in Candace Bushnell's stellar new novel, One Fifth Avenue is at the heart of the lives they've carefully established, or hope to establish. There is Schiffer Diamond, a forty-something actress busily proving that women of style are truly ageless. There is spoiled, self-assured Lola, who is determined to launch herself into society and the arms of the right man by clawing a way into the building. Annalisa is the wife of a hedge fund manager and reluctant socialite, while bitter Mindy is married to an under-published writer and has been the family breadwinner for too long. And then there is Enid, the glamorous grande dame and gossip columnist, who has lived at One Fifth Avenue for decades, and sees everything there is to see from her penthouse view .
