Despite growing up in a large Air Force family, Michael Wegman charted his own unique military career enlisting in the U.S Navy in 1978. He spent years as a fast attack nuclear submarine electrician and scuba diver before he was selected to a commissioning program. Wegman attended Auburn University in Alabama and was commissioned as a Surface Warfare Officer in 1987. He served as an engineering officer and combat systems division officer on two surface ships, while making numerous deployments and cruises around the globe. In 1994, Wegman transfered to the University of North Carolina's NROTC Department to teach Naval Science and attend graduate school. He entered the Naval Reserve in 1994 and has served as Officer-in-Charge of the Ports of Wilmington and Morehead City North Carolina and as an Anti-terrorism Officer for the Commander of the U.S. Pacific Fleet. Today, Michael works as a staff officer for the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces command. His writing career includes yearbook editor at two universities, recently published articles in two different major worldwide trade journals, and many speeches and press releases for North Carolina statewide political candidates. He is presently writing his second novel.
