About the Author:

Two decades ago, Lisa Martin Capozzi produced her first television show for an NBC-affiliate in Rochester, Minnesota. Ten P.M. news production was a promising challenge for Capozzi fresh out of Journalism school at the University of Minnesota. Highlights included awards from the Minnesota Medical Association and the Minnesota Education Association, the creation of a weekly series entitled "Lifeline" at the Mayo Clinic, three national network stories and reporter interviews with President George Bush, Willie Nelson and numerous others. Capozzi went on to form her own Minneapolis-based production company, "Marketing Productions" after leaving the news business. She produced, wrote and directed television commercials and sales marketing videos. To fulfill her passion for acting, she studied the craft at the Guthrie theater in Minneapolis.

In 1995, Capozzi moved to Los Angeles to build her professional union acting credits. Live stage credits included, "La Boheme", "Hansel and Gretel" and "Carmen" with the L.A. Opera. Television credits included staring roles on "America's Most Wanted" and "EXTRA" to pilots, "Panache" and "Spirit Connections". She was also featured on "That 70's Show", "The Nanny" and a Rosie O'Donnell T.V. promo. Her entrepreneurial spirit prompted her to create, market and run two small businesses while promoting herself as an actress. She created MC Casting, a casting company where she cast independent feature films. She also created and ran Prime Print Talent, a print management company that booked a talent pool of one-hundred-thirty-five actors for print jobs. Her clients included IBM, Target, Nokia, General Motors and Honda.

In addition to writing "Spirit Connections", Capozzi has co-written a television pilot, "Fat, Flat and Broke" and a feature film, "Snowglobe". In 2002, she recorded her first singing CD with her husband, Ken. They are part of a trio called "Triple Stack" performing standards including Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin classics. She also teaches writing and drama with her husband to L.A. inner city children.

In the dream, she was riding up in an elevator. The elevator didn't stop. It continued to rise and rise. When it finally came to a stop, the doors opened and Kim watched as a beautiful, healthy woman approached the entrance. She looked somewhat familiar. As the woman stepped onto the elevator, she realized it was her Mom. She reached out and grabbed her screaming, "Mom, its you! Oh, Mom, you're alright. You're not sick anymore." The elevator again began to rise. They hugged and hugged until Kim awoke. But, just because the dream ended didn't mean the hugging was over. Kim laid in the darkness awake with the continuing feeling that her Mom was hugging her. She said it felt like her Mom was really holding her. The dream was real enough to convince her that Mom had made it to heaven and that someday she would join her.

On the day of his departure, dozens of relatives and friends gathered to bid farewell to Antonio. They were gathered outside Gigolette's tin-roof home which was surrounded with beautiful rose bushes, eucalyptus, boganvia and pine trees. Antonio was inside paying one final visit to his mother's bedroom. "Well, I guess this is good-bye, Mom," he said, feeling her presence in the room." Suddenly, a huge gust of wind with an unbelievably strong force hit the area around the home.

*********************************************

Tamra laid on the bed in perfect health stroking her son's hair. Sean sat up and tried to move, but the neatly tucked sheets held him back. He talked to her. "Tamra, how are you?" he asked, just as if the appearance of his dead wife was perfectly normal. He finally freed himself of the sheets only to move closer to her. But, at moment he felt frozen in time and space. He couldn't move and then, to his dismay, she simply disappeared.

*********************************************

A man wearing a flannel cap sewn with the same fabric as his Mom's favorite coat walked past him. The man tipped his hat to Rod with the friendliest, kindest eyes he'd ever seen. The stranger with the hat simply said, "hello".

*********************************************

When the bird disappeared, the girls were all in complete agreement that the bird was Mom paying them a visit. Their Dad was pleased with the girls assessment of the situation. While talking about the visit, the bird re-appeared. Now it was easier to take a closer look and see that it was a songbird. It fluttered in the doorway persisting in what appeared to be a desire to enter the house. Excited by the second visit, they all stood watching the songbird for several minutes until it flew off again.

*********************************************

She was standing in the attic alone when she felt a strong poke in the right shoulder of her back. There was no doubt that the poke was made by someone's finger and she turned to see who it was but nobody was there. Beyond that, there wasn't even anything remotely close to where she'd been standing to bump into. At that moment, she felt a chill that struck her as odd since the temperature in the attic wasn't cold.

*********************************************

Two nights later, she was closing out the busy day reading aloud to her children at bedtime. There in his favorite rocker sat David watching her. She wasn't frightened. She didn't even flinch. For a moment, until the vision faded from sight, she enjoyed one final look at her beautiful man with the lop-sided smile peacefully gazing one last time at her and their children.

*********************************************

She tried exploring the den. The music was still loud, but nothing was coming out of the stereo in the den. Jane tried to wake her Dad explaining what she could hear. As he skeptically walked from the bedroom into the hallway, the music instantly ended and their home was silent again. At that moment, it dawned on Jane that the music was for her and her alone. Mom was letting her know that she'd made it. She'd crossed over.

*********************************************

The next day, Lynn's daughter Debra was crying about the loss of Simba. She found her Mother in the bedroom where Lynn hugged and comforted her with these words, "honey, Grandma loved Simba and now Simba is in heaven with Grandma." At that instant, an old red plaid heart-shaped music box that needs to have the tightly secured lid removed before it plays music began to play on its own. Never before in the many years she has owned it has it ever played without the lid being removed first.
