About the Author

Janet Portman, an attorney and Nolo’s managing editor, is an expert on landlord-tenant law and is the author or co-author of Every Landlord’s Legal Guide, Leases & Rental Agreements and other Nolo titles. Her syndicated column, “Rent it Right”, appears regularly in The Boston Globe, Los Angeles Times and other prominent media. Marcia Stewart is the co-author of Every Landlord’s Legal Guide, Every Tenant’s Legal Guide, and Leases & Rental Agreements, among others, and has edited dozens of Nolo books.
