This story takes place in the early to mid-1930s. Victoria is gazing out a beautiful, West Virginia, church window, as this is the day of her second marriage. Her thoughts haunt her and carry her through the earliest memories of her life to that current day. She recalls the sudden loss of her father at the age of nine, due to an illness, and her friends and family, who helped her maintain a normal childhood. Victoria always had extremely profound qualities, which would carry her throughout her life. After her early school days, she departed from her home to become an aspiring model, which would in turn pay for her additional schooling. She soon met a gentleman that she would marry and, with whom, have a son. Her son, before the age of two, acquired a fatal disease, and Victoria was left to her own devices, as her husband asked for a divorce, due to his own selfish endeavors. Victoria was reminded of her childhood faith in the Lord, which she did her best to hang on to throughout her life. After her son’s passing, Victoria returned home to be with family and friends and possibly heal these deep wounds. She was quickly reunited with an old childhood friend. They began courting, even though Victoria had much reservation, due to what had already occurred in her life. They soon agreed to become married. This time, Victoria had the immediate support of family and friends to help arrange for the wedding. As she arrived to the church on the big wedding day, Victoria entered the bride’s room and found herself drawn to a beautiful church window overlooking a very peaceful and serene landscape. She was almost in a state of hypnosis, as she tried desperately to find resolution to her past occurrences. Even she would be surprised by what was to happen next....

Recalling, when she was only nine years old, "Victoria called Mama, "could you please help me in the kitchen?" "I need to speak with you." Her mother continued by saying, "I realize that it is your ninth birthday. However, your father needs to speak with you about an extremely important matter. I need you to be strong and caring, as you have always been and especially be your Daddy's little princess."

Victoria proceeded to walk over to her father's bedroom door. It was slightly ajar. Her father said, "The door is open sweetie, come on in." As he looked at his daughter standing so straight and tall, but with a slight hesitation of what was about to be said. Father said, "My dearest Victoria, I have always loved you to the depths of my being and I am very proud of the fine young girl that you have become. What I am about to tell you is very difficult for me, but I would rather your hear it from me." He began by saying, "Life sometimes deals us a very strange hand of cards and I unfortunately never carry an ace up my sleeve." Victoria looked a bit puzzled, as her father continued speaking. "Tomorrow, I have to go to the hospital and I may not be returning. I have been fighting a losing battle with cancer and I have been instructed to put my affairs in order, as well as prepare myself for my heavenly home." Victoria crumbled with tears and heartfelt sadness at her father's feet.

He said, "Victoria, I need you to always know that you are my special daughter. You must hold on to my memory for as long as you live. There may be a very important and specific reason for this, but if for nothing else, to know that I will always love you." Victoria could not even speak for she adored her father. As they embraced quietly, their love for each other could be felt throughout the entire house, and but for a moment, it overshadowed the grief of losing her father.
