Synopsis

This is a continuation of Generations I. The Smith family and their close knit workers blend as a huge family of different races and cultures. They struggle to survive during the harshness of the nineteenth century. They are prime examples of the early entrepreneurs. The book begins with the venture of hauling produce and other supplies to the settlers in California and Oregon. They become involved in the gold rushes. They haul supplies for the Union Army during the Civil War. The fortunes of the Smith Clanare based on the premise that when people treat others as they wish to betreated, their lives will be blessed, and their lives were blessed.  Each character, whether it is one from the Chinese, Black, Hispanic, Indian, or White race, manages to become successful. Their success does not comefrom luck, it comes from very hard work and a blending of co-operation from all who are involved.

About the Author

Everett Smith has been an avid reader since he was able to read. He has read all of the westerns and historical fiction books he could find. When he was 71 years old he was still working, operating a bulldozer.  When his wife of 50 years became ill, he quit working to take care of her. In his spare time, he read. At one point he threw his book across the room and shouted, "I can write a better book than this!" Elizabeth, his wife challenged him to write a better book, and he took her up on the challenge. He researched facts and put them into the story he had been thinking about while driving trucks across the country forty years earlier.
