The Invisible Hand tells an intriguing story of espionage, love, and death. An American soldier, Tom Nellen, is a victim of a KGB spy plot while stationed in West Germany during the Cold War. The KGB's East German master agent, Markus Johannes 'Mischa' Wolf, learns that Tom is the adopted son of the eminent nuclear physicist, Mark Nellen, who is working on a secret atomic weapons project. He establishes contact with Tom and offers him considerable money for his father's research data. When Tom refuses, Wolf tells him that his natural mother survived the holocaust and lives somewhere in the East. To obtain her address, Tom has to cooperate with Wolf. Eager to find his mother, Tom faces an agonizing dilemma. Should he betray his father and his country for the sake of his mother?Cover design and illustration by Tamar Kahane Oestreich
