Synopsis

Richard Coren's God and Science Among the Infinities uses mathematics and history to establish relations and limits of God and Science.

In this book the origin of religious belief is considered and systems theory is employed to demonstrate that Religion and Science had a common historical development. It can then analyze those features that tie them together and that illuminate their differences.

Employing the mathematics of infinities the author challenges our understandings of classical examples from the theology of God and of several fields of science, and establishes limits on both. Thought-provoking and original, Professor Corenšs book then shows how God and science coexist in the modern mind. This book is the beginning of a science of religion; it can no longer be claimed that science has nothing to say about God. This is an important result for theologians, scientists, believers, and skeptics.

From the Back Cover

The infinite God exists throughout all space and time and is all powerful and all knowing. And yet God plays no roll in science, and science says nothing directly about God. This book changes that relation.

Employing simple System Theory Dr. Richard Coren demonstrate that there is a common "trajectory" for the historical development of religion, science, and technology. Rather than being in fundamental opposition, these reflect stages of the same development,

Then, merely by counting he shows that there are large and larger and even larger infinities. The position of God among these infinities is explored for deeper understanding of the limits it imposes. This same mathematics also relates to the limits and prospects of our scientific understanding in all areas of study. In several chapters both aspects are illustrated with examples from diverse areas of theology and science.

In view of these new results he considers the basis of religious belief in our scientific world. This book is written for, and is of interest to anyone concerned with the relation of God to our world and to the scientific endeavor. It is vitally important and informative to theologians, scientists, believers, and skeptics.
