Harold S. Reed, Jr. was born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey. His parents divorced when he was just a toddler, yet despite their falling apart, they doubled their efforts when it came to providing loving homes for him. After graduating from high school in 1988, Harold attended Rutgers University in Newark, NJ. After two semesters he decided that college was not where he wanted to be at that point in his life, and he enlisted in the United States Air Force Reserves. Harold proudly served as a Medical Services Specialist during Operations: Desert Shield, Desert Storm, & Desert Calm. By God’s grace he was only gone for less than a year, and when he returned home he also returned to school to study Criminal Justice and Psychology in the hopes to pursue a career in Law Enforcement. In 1994, he moved to Charleston, South Carolina, where he not only reunited with his mother who had moved there after the deaths of her parents, but he also obtained a job with the Charleston Police Department. Unfortunately, his stay there was short lived as he felt compelled to return to New Jersey after the death of his paternal grandfather, who helped his father raise him. For the following six years, Harold struggled working various security jobs, often times making just enough to eat. Fortunately he had his father’s love and support, which under the guise of “tough love” forced Harold to continue to fight for his dream of becoming a police officer. In February of 2000, Harold was hired by the East Orange Police Department and in August of the same year, at his police academy graduation, he proposed to his girlfriend Taria. On the same date one year later they were married, and their son Alexander (A.J.) was born the following year just about a week after their 1st wedding anniversary. In November of 2002, he left the East Orange Police Department and joined the Woodbridge Police Department. In addition to being a Police Officer, Harold is an author and a motivational speaker. He is also a proud and extremely active member of Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship Inc. ® and Toastmasters International ®.
