This story takes place in a time when surviving was all that was expected of one. The main character had to move from being the head of his mother's household to trying to support his own family in very hard times. Having to support a fast growing family he struggled within himself to survive. Being a sharecropper was the only way he knew to support and raise a large family. This decision systematically caused his relationship with his family to take a downward spiral into chaos and destruction. Through a process of time and a lot of devastating mistakes the abuse subsided, as this man slowly and determinedly began the process of trying to win back the family that he had all but lost. The wall of fear and frustration that was the family's protection from him had to be dismantled one brick at a time by trust. In the end a deeper and more meaningful relationship was birthed from the latter.

About the Author:
Biography The author was born during the post Depression era. This was a challenge within itself, but being born to sharecroppers wasn’t a desirable beginning. The part of the south in which she was born and raised; seemed light years away from modernization. The little weather beaten schoolhouse where she began her formal education was indeed an archaic symbol of progress even for that period of time. Though all this should have been negative forces in her life, it only seemed to stimulate her vivid imagination. As a child she had been branded as a dreamer; it was appropriate that she escaped within her books to live beyond her circumstances. Growing up and moving away from home, set her on a path to discover a world outside the boundaries of the familiar. Today she has found that the life she has lived is the story that her heart cries to write, and she will continue on this path until it ends.
