Synopsis
Welcome to the world of Little Battlers eXperience! In the near future, a boy named Van Yamano owns Achilles, a miniaturized robot made of a new super-strong industrial cardboard. But Achilles is no ordinary LBX. Hidden inside him is secret data that Van must keep out of the hands of evil at all costs!
Van Yamano loves Little Battlers eXperience, also known as LBXs, the hot toy of the future in present day 2050. And it’s kind of cool that his dad invented them! But when the plane his dad is on goes down, everything goes wrong for Van. Until he starts getting hints that his dad may be still alive...and that a secret organization is coming after Van to procure the secrets that might be hidden inside his own LBX robot, Achilles!

Born on December 12, 1977 at Miyazaki Prefecture. Made his debut in 2000 with Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Children (Monthly Comic BomBom). Signature works are Battle Spirits Breakthrough Boy Bashin and others. Blood type A.

Gr 5–8—Van Yamano's father invented the LBX (Little Battlers eXperience) toy robots and then disappeared shortly afterward. Van channels his trauma over the loss of his father into his obsession with the LBXs. Then a mysterious woman risks her life to give Van a very special LBX, through which he learns that his father might not be dead after all. There is an ongoing plot thread about Van's father, but these books primarily consist of fight scenes between different characters' robots. There's lots of action, explosions, weaponry, and expositional yelling about what the robots are doing during their fight. There are often so many things going on at the same time that readers may have difficulty following along. The story reads and feels like a toy commercial, which makes sense because LBX started as a video game (PlayStation and Nintendo) and features an anime series and action figures.
