About the Author

Jean's founded Aspen Alpine Guides and has skied for over 40 years. Additionally, he has studied his outdoor passion: alpine ski touring at the doctoral level earning his EdD in  Exercise Physiology from the University of Northern Colorado. His ground breaking research in Alpine Ski Touring was supported by the Wilderness Medical Society and the Charles S. Houston Grant and predated the present craze in alpine ski touring by 20 years. He has skied and trekked all over the world but has pioneered significant ski routes here in the US. His 170 mile route from Winter Park to Crested Butte is the longest alpine ski tour completed in the US.  His guide book to the 70 mile Colorado High Route that he has designed that will link up several ski resorts from Vail to Winter Park Colorado is available on Kindle. This is America's Haute Route.  He has published many articles on  backcountry topics that have appeared in Ski, Outside, Powder Magazines and on line. He is a adventure sports writer based in Boulder, Colorado.
